Background & Beliefs

So, how did it all start?

Patriot Front was founded in August of 2017 by Thomas Rousseau. He was a teenager when he created this group (born in 1998).

Members of the group had been active before 2017. They were originally part of a group called Vanguard America, before stepping away after a deadly rally. The rally, called “Unite The Right”, happened in Charlottesville, VA. The rally turned deadly when James Alex Fields Jr. killed an anti-racist protester when he drove his car through a crowd of them.

After this rally, a bit of chaos ensued. The “commander” of Vanguard America accused Thomas Rousseau of taking over the group’s Discord servers & domain. Rousseau was removed from a leadership role in this group as of August 14, 2017. Rousseau announced the creation of Patriot Front on August 30, 2017.

So now that we’ve talked about where this group came from, what do they believe?

Patriot Front is a white supremacist group whose members maintain that their ancestors conquered America and bequeathed it solely to them.

Patriot front’s beliefs center around the ideas of white supremacy, neo-fascism, homophobia, and fascism. At first glance, their website, posters and other affiliations look extremely patriotic. This is done on purpose, to encourage people to blindly support them.

The members of this group believe that when their ancestors conquered America they left it to them, and only them. This means that people of different backgrounds/upbringings than theirs are inferior, and are considered the enemy. They consider this nation their property, and feel it is their job to protect it from everyone else. While this group has never been physically violent, they are promoting it with their goals and ideals.
